Whether you're using Twitter to build your brand, grow your business or promote affiliate products, Twitter is still a great place to do that. I know that many of my followers are also activists and Twitter is a fantastic way to raise awareness and spread information about a cause, campaign or philosophy.
So first, let's look at some of the statistics which make Twitter such an awesome platform...
So from the above data, it should be clear that Twitter is definitely not a platform you should ignore. It's a vital way to add character to your brand by grabbing attention and starting conversations. This conversational aspect of Twitter is something fundamental that users often forget. It's not just about posting memes or pictures of your breakfast - it's vital to actually interact on a real level. This is a great way to connect with influencers and build relationships, which is what will make the difference between your success or failure. If you post something on Twitter and it doesn't get a ton of interaction, that's perfectly OK. A great thing about Twitter is that those Tweets quickly get lost in the crowd and are replaced by newer, more impactful Tweets, so don't see a lack of response to a Tweet as a failure. Simply see it as an opportunity to learn about what works and to refine your strategy. Remember that Twitter isn't like Facebook or Instagram where you should only post once or twice a day. Damn, you can easily post 20-30 times a day on Twitter - the more the merrier (within reason, of course lol). You should definitely monitor your engagement regularly using Twitter's Analytics feature, which effectively shows how much impact each of your Tweets is having in terms of impressions, retweets, likes, profile views, follower turnover and general interactions. Analytics is such an incredibly powerful feature and you should be using it to your advantage as much as possible to continually learn and tweak your activity. I mentioned profile views. Never underestimate the power of optimising your profile. People will very often decide whether to follow you even before they visit your page based purely on what your profile says so always make it count. Don't fill it with loads of hashtags that are confusing to the eye and the brain - say something powerful and to the point, which grabs people's attention and makes them want to follow you, check out your content and engage. Have a good profile picture and make sure you add your website link to the bio itself. One final tip... Be very careful to do your research properly before you decide to buy Twitter ads. I've been tempted to do just that in the past on the assumption that it would be a quick and easy way to grow my following, increase engagement and drive traffic but it is very easy to lose money for very little actual return. A quick Google search will reveal tons of people who have ended up basically throwing money down the drain with Twitter ads. I'm not saying they don't have their place, just that they're definitely not for everyone. That's it for now, guys.
